Older adults complete tasks differently

There were no differences in completion rates for tasks due to age but older adults used different strategies. Older adults took more steps, mainly because they make more errors as they went along and used more rigid exploration. Older adults often failed to receive meaningful hints from their actions and therefore made less progress toward the task goal. Older adults showed more motor-control problems. Older adults didn’t use their past knowledge as much as younger adults. Older adults had a higher level of uncertainty about whether their actions were correct. Felt more time pressure and less satisfaction. Older adults adopted more trial and error strategies due to the lack of background and experience with the type of device.

People use different types of strategies in correcting errors. Collect data on which strategies your particular audience uses. Don’t assume a population will be unable to finish a task just because they're older. In addition to young vs. old think of expert vs. novice. What errors would an expert make vs. a novice?
