The formula for force is F=ma.To use it, look at the following example.Example: An unbalanced force of 16.0 N if given on a 2.0 kg mass. What is the acceleration?1. Plug in the given numbers into the formula. !6.0 = 2.0 a2. Next, use the one variable equation method to solve what acceleration is. 16.0/2.0=a a=83. The unit for acceleration is m. (m/s) --- s4. Remember this: F=maN=kg*m ---- s

Force Diagrams
A Force Diagram, or a Free body diagram, is used to show the relative magnitude and direction of all forces acting upon an object in a given situation. In the example to the right, all the forces, Friction, Acceleration, Gravity, and the mass of the object, all of the forces are acting equally upon the object. Therefore, the object is not moving, or is going at a constant speed.
The formula for Speed, Acceleration, and Velocity are...Speed = Distance / TimeAcceleration = force / mass.................................................................................................................Velocity and Speed are very similar. They have the same formula.Velocity is distance in a certain direction over time, while Speed is just distance over time.
The graphs of distance, velocity and acceleration as functions of time below were calculated for one-dimensional motion using the motion equations in a spreadsheet. The acceleration does change, but it is constant within a given time segment so that the constant acceleration equations can be used.
