    Bacteria
Bacterial cells display all of the Characteristics of living things.  They do not contain a nucleus.  Their size is 1/1000 mm.  They are found in most places.  they reproduce very rapidly -  1 cell splits into 2 every 20 minutes.  Some are harmless but some cause disease.  They attack body tissue, or release poisons, making you feel ill.  antibiotics do affect them.  examples of bacteria are:  tetanus, sore throats, poisoning.

    Viruses
Viruses do not display all of the characteristics of living things.  They are the smallest of all microbes, at 1/1000000 mm.  They are a strand of genetic information with a protein coat.  They can only grow and reproduce within other living things.  They invade living tissue and take over cells, making them manufacture millions of copies of themselves.  they can release poisons, making you ill.  antibiotics do not affect them.  Examples of viruses are:  colds, flu, chicken pox.

Diapositiva 4

    Fungi
Pie de foto: : A yeast cell
Some fungi is visible to the naked eye.  They come in all different sizes, and reproduce by budding.  fungi feed on other living organisms, and have the most complex structure of all of the microbes.  examples of Fungi are:  Yeast, athletes foot.
