Cold War

Between U.S. and Soviet Union.  considered cold because they never confronted each other directly.  U.S. wanted to spread democracy and the Soviet Union wanted to spread Communisim.

Soviet Union placed an iron curtain over Eastern Europe, cutting it off from the West.  Trade was cut off and communication was limited.
