What created the fear of civil war? The fear of civil war was brought about by the Muslim League demanding their own state in 1940 and that the Musilm League took positions from resigned congress ministers, which increased tensions.
What happened after the war when the army was being demobbed? The soliders did not hand back their weapons (proliferation) thus increasing the fear of unrest.
Why was moral in the army very low? Moral was very low because 'everyone just wanted to go home'.

What were the reconstruction costs for? The reconstruction cost were to rebiuld the cities destroyed in the Blitz.
What type of person was Atlee and what did he want? He was a Socialist and wanted social reforms in Britain and India, needed money to set up the NHS (key factor).
How much was the war time debts? Overall the debt to India was £13 billion (£50 million per year).
When was Atlee elected as prime minister? Elected in the 1945 elections .
In the 1946 Bombay munity , in which 20,000 soliders mutinied, who stopped the munity and what did this show? Congress stopped the munity thus showing their power and demonstrating that the army cannot be trusted ( the army was only ever used as a threat rather than in action after the munity)
Who estimated that the running of the empire would be £1.4 billion? Keynes
