Pregunta Respuesta
Where is ADH synthesised? in neuroendocrine cells in the supraoptic and parvaventricular nuclei of the hypothalamus
Where is ADH stored? posterior pituitary
What effect does ADH have on the permeability of the collecting duct to water? Increases its permeability to water by synthesising and inserting AQP2 water channels into the apical membrane of principal cells via a V2 - cAMP - protein kinase cascade
What effect does ADH have on the permeability of the inner medullary collecting duct to urea? Increases its permeability to urea through a cAMP - protein kinase A cascade that phosphorylates UT-A1 and UT-A3 transporters into the apical membrane
What effect does ADH have on the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle? Increases its sodium reabsorbtion by phosphorylation of NaK2CL symporter
What effect does ADH have when it binds to V1 receptors? It causes vasoconstriction which slows flow rate in the vasa recta to allow more time for equilibration to minimise solute wash out and to allow more time for the reabsorption of water from the intersitium
