Pregunta Respuesta
Semi Conservative DNA Replication Half original and Half new
The enzyme DNA helicase attaches and moves along the DNA molecule, unwinding the DNA and breaking hydrogen bonds between complementary bases. The strands start to seperate.
Each strands act as a template. new individual DNA nucleotides are attracted to exposed complementary bases on template strand and base pairings occurs (A-T and C-G) The enzyme DNA polymerase now joins the new nucleotides together through a condensation reaction forming phosphodiester bonds between the new nucleotides.
Semi conservative replication ensures that each new DNA molecule contains an original and a new strand and is identical to the original DNA. Keywords semi conservative DNA helicase unwinds and unzips strands breaking hydrogen bonds template new nucleotides DNA polymerase
