Pregunta Respuesta
Water Water is a dipole. Is a polar molecule. One end of the molecule +ve and one end -ve.
Water as a solvent Due to this polarity, other polar molecules dissolve in water. More molecules dissolve in water compared to any other liquid, thus it is Universal Solvent.
Hydrogen Bonds Becuase water is dipole (-ve and +ve ends), the positive end of one water molecule is attracted towards the -ve end of another molecule causing them to stick together. this property is called cohesion.
Water as a metabolite Water is used and amde in many chemical reactions within the cells of organisms. .Hydrolysis reactions and photosynthesis use water .Condensation reactions and respiration produce water
Water as a solid When water freezes it becomes less dense. it has the same mass but it takes up a bigger volume because the water molecules form a crystalline structure. This is why ice floats on water.
