Pregunta Respuesta
Name of the process in which in which solids turs into liquids in one step? Sublimation
How to work out the state of a substances at a given temprature: You can use the melting and boiling point to work out the state of a substance. Anything below the melting point will be a solid. Anything under the boiling point will be a liquid and anything over the boiling point will be a gas.
What determines the boiling and melting points of substances? The melting and boiling points depends on a variety of factors such as how many bonds they are, the intermolecular forces and length of joined atoms. The stronger/longer each one is the more energy will be required to change their state.
Example situation: When a liquid is heated, the particles move faster because they have more kinetic energy. Eventually they have enough energy to overcome the attractive forces between particles and can move apart. The substance is not in gas form.
