Pregunta Respuesta
what digestive enzymes are in the mouth and where 7-8 alkaline, enzymes from salivary gland, amylase which digests starch to maltose.
stomach hydrochloric acids, 2-3 pH, enzymes come from the glands in the stomach lining, proteases which react with proteins to form amino acids
small intestine alkaline 7-8, all enzymes are from pancreas, amylase, proteases, lipases, maltase
why does carbohydrase mixed with food in your mouth not continue to work in the stomach? not the optimum pH in stomach because requires alkali and stomach is acidic.
why do you need lots of different digestive enzymes? enzymes are specific and react with different substrates, the active site is specific too
barely any animals can digest cellulose, why? they don't have the correct enzyme made in the stomach unlike cows
