Repeatability | An experiment is repeatable when the same person repeats it using the same equipment and gets results that are close together. |
Reproducibility | An experiment is reproducible when it is carried out by different people using different equipment and the results are close together. |
Systematic Error | This happens when there is a problem with the apparatus (e.g. incorrect calibration), so the results are precise (close together) but not accurate. |
Reliability | This is assessed by comparing an individual result with a reference value or with a mean of a large number of results. The reliability of an experiment is increased by repeating and reproducing the results. |
