What is malware? Malicious Software- software that can be malicious if damaging to a computer or network.
Give some examples of Malware. Viruses, Worms and Trojan Horses.
What does a virus do? It attaches itself to programs/ files on a computer/ server.
What does a virus affect? A virus can affect ALL components of an Operating System.
How many viruses are made a day? 82,000.
What does a worm do? A worm replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. Often using a computer network.
How does a worm do this? It exploits vulnerabilities across the computer network.
How is a worm DIFFERENT to a virus?
What are Trojan Horses designed to do? They are designed to access a computer by misleading users of its intent.
What is social engineering? It involves human interaction in order to trick users into breaking normal security procedures. It does NOT involve technical cracking techniques.
What is computer phishing? It is a form of social engineering
