When limestone is heated (Thermally Decomposes) what does it form? calcium oxide and carbon dioxide
how is calcium hydroxide produced? when calcium oxide reacts with water
what is thermal decomposition? when one substance chemically changes into at least 2 new substances when its heated
other metal carbonates decompose in the same way. how does copper decompose? copper carbonate-->copper oxide+carbon dioxide
how do we test for carbon dioxide gas? bubbling it through limewater (which will form cloudy)

how can you tell the difference between calcium oxide and calcium carbonate? add water to calcium oxide and it will produce calcium hydroxide
