Les Six | A group of Six French composers who gathered around Erik Satie as their guide to create anti romantic music. opposed to serialism. Wanted lighter, more accessible style. Influenced their friend, stravinsky. Not an organized group, just called Les Six by journalists. |
Darius Milhaud | One of Les Six. One of the most prolific composers of the 20th century. More pronounced dissonances and atonal than rest of Les Six. Influenced by Jazz in some works and Brazilian music in others. His reverence for his Jewish background can be found in many of his pieces. |
