TEETH | *Premolars and molars are used to grind and crush food. *Incisors are used to cut food. *Canines are used to tear food. |
PHARYNX | The swallowing takes place in the pharynx as a reflex and partly involuntary control. Conects digestive system with respiratory system. |
EPIGLOTIS | Is a flexible flap in you throat , stops food for entering to the lungs. |
OESOPHATUS | Is a long muscular tube, it's normally close but opens when food is ingested, connescts the pharynx to the stomach crossing the diaphragm. |
STOMACH | It's muscular organ thatr is conected to the oesophagus. Recibe food from the oesophagus, it enters to the stomach an secretes acid that digested food. |
LIVER | Is the largest internal organ in the body. It contains hepatocytes that collect the bile secreted by the liver cells. |
GALLBLADDER | Is a pear-shaped structure located under the liver. Its function is to store bile. |
PANCREAS | Is a long narrow gland with two ducts, the ducts secrete substances into the duodenum via the ampulla of Vater. |
SMALL INTESTINE | Starts at the pylorus and ends at the ileocaecal valve, where it joins the large intestine. The small intestine is divided into three parts: the duodenum, jejunum and ileum. |
DUODENUM | The liver secretes bile and the pancreas secretes pancreatic juice into this section. |
JEJUNUM AND ILEUM | Form the rest of the small intestine, although there is no clear line between them. |
LARGE INTESTINE | Its glands secrete lubricating mucus to help substances pass through it. It is divided into several sections: the caecum, appendix, ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, rectum and the anus. |
