Pregunta Respuesta
Enzyme a globular protein that works as a catalyst and speeds up reactions
What does an enzyme convert? an enzyme converts substrates into products
Active site an active site is a special region on an enzyme where substrates bind for enzymes to catalyze reactions
Property of enzyme-substrate specificity the property where the active site is very specific to its substrates because of its shape, therefore, enzymes are only allowed to catalyze certain reactions, a substrate can only bind if it fits in the active site
How does an enzyme catalyst occur? 1. Substrate binds to active site 2. Substrates change into different chemical substances (products) 3. Products separate from active site, leaving it vacant for next reaction
Collision the coming together of a substrate molecule and the active site
Denaturation a permanent change in the enzyme where the structure of the enzyme, including the active site, changes
Immobilization attachment of the enzymes to another material or into aggregations, so that movement of the enzyme is restricted
Temperature (factor)
pH (factor)
Substrate concentration (factor)
