When we were younger, we used to dance all night long at parties. USED TO: can be used to talk about past states as well as past repeated actions and habits. In this sentence, the action of dancing happened in repeated occasions over a period of time in the past.
Luciana would paint fantastic paintings when she was two years old! WOULD: is only used to talk about past habits and repeated actions.
XXX When I was a teen, I would live in the countryside. XXX ***When I was a teen, I used to live in the countryside.*** 'Would' is not used to talk about past states. So we CANNOT use it with verbs like "live, be, have, like, know, own, agree, disagree, etc."
