Combustion A chemical process in which a substance reacts with oxygen to give off heat is called combustion.
Combustible Substances Substances that undergo combustion are called combustible substances. They are also termed as fuel. Light is given off during combustion, either as a glow or flame.. eg: coal, Kerosene, petrol, diesel
Non Combustible Substances Substances that do not undergo combustion in presence of air are called non combustible substances. They do not readily burn. eg: Sand, steel, Rock, Glass
Ignition Temperature The lowest temperature at which a substance catches fire is called ignition temperature.
Inflammable Substances The substances which have very low ignition temperature and can easily catch fire with a flame are called inflammable substances. eg: petrol, alcohol, Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)etc.
