What do you have to consider when designing a questionnaire? -The phrasing of questions -Closed or open questions -What information you need
What are secondary sources of data? Is data that has already been collected previously and been published.
Give examples of secondary data. -On the internet -in books -reports -magazines -newspapers
What are the pros and cons of using secondary data? The pros are that you can... - buy published market research to save time -it can help get more data to develop your products The cons are.... -the results may not be helpful to the people who need it -May be old and therefore unreliable -trends may change -could result in loss of business and less profit if data is wrong -may be in a different locations
What are input devices? Give examples Input devices that help store and analyse data that needs to be on a computer. These include keyboards, mice, scanners, cameras and voice recognition devices.
What are the pros and cons of input devices? Pros; -A range allows different types of information to be documented e.g. photos, text, graphs -most simply connect with USB cable Cons; -Could be costly if they don't consider what is necessary/if it will be used -Keyboards can cause repetitive strain injury causing workers to be unhappy -If they don't check the device is suitable for the one using it (e.g. for the visually impaired) then it will waste money and reduce morale.
What are storage devices? Give examples Storage devices are devices that store information on the computer. For example hard disks or drives, CDs, DVD's and USB memory sticks.
What are the pros and cons of storage devices? Pros; -Removable hard drives can increase the size of the data a computer can hold and can back up data so it would not be lost. -CDS can hold a variety of information (Text, pictures, archives of photos. -Memory sticks are cheap and make data portable Cons; -Memory sticks are venerable to damage -All external devices need to be backed up regularly as they could be damaged or lost resulting in a waste of time and data
What are output devices? give examples. Are devices that take data off the computer in order for it to be used. This includes monitors, printers and projectors.
What are the pros and cons of output devices? Pros; -TFT screens have lower environmental impact and take up less room -printers can print in colour and black and white so they have multiple uses -some projectors can be portable/moving Cons; -Medical and safety issues need to be taken into consideration e.g. screens need to have a low flicker rate and be fully adjustable. -poorly chosen printers could result in a very expensive bills -Unsuitable devices for presentations could result in a loss of business
