She said that it changed the way they ate, slept, made friends, fought, planned and played. This phrase is reported speech because the real sentence that she used was said by her whilst the person that said it in the text described what she said.
Three-quarters own an MP3 player, 60% have their own computer and 71% have a mobile phone. This phrase's verbs are in present because they are stating an actual fact of what most USA kids have.
Journalist Susan Maushart's three teenage children, then aged 14, 15 and 18, were no different from other teenagers. This phrase contains two verbs in past tense because it is talking about when the book was written although now they probably have grown up and their ages changed.
She said that it changed the way they ate, slept, made friends, fought, planned and played. This phrase contains a linking word which is "and" which at the end of the sentence, let's them link the word "planned" to "played".
No mobile phones, MP3 players, TV, DVD's or computers were allowed in the house. In this phrase, the passive voice appears thanks to the verb "To be" which is conjugated in this sentence as "were".
What will you find most difficult about the week? Not being able to connect to the Internet to receive emails, or even to do homework.
What, if anything, will you enjoy about having no electronic devices? Not having eye sore after watching for a long time the screens lit up.
What will you do in your free time, without a phone/Tv/MP3 player/the Internet/ DVDs/video games? Read a book, play table games, do sports, etc.
How will you keep in contact with your friends? Talk to them at school, go to their houses, talk in Internet cafes, etc.
