Malthus Facts - Essay on population written at the end of the 18th century - Population growth was a geometric progression (1,2,4,8,16, etc) and food supply increased arithmetically (1,2,3,4,5, etc). At the point of a Malthusian Crisis - 'Preventative and positive checks' would reduce the population.
