Conventions of Magazine Posters
Artist Name This is one of the most crucial conventions of the magazine poster for an album because it immediately introduces themselves to the audience.
Album Title This immediately introduces the reader to the new release and so they can look out for the new album in shops once it is on sale in stores.
Release Date This provides the reader with the information of the earliest date that they can buy the album, which is useful for sales purposes. Sometimes posters add detail as to where the album can be bought, e.g. HMV or iTunes.
Critical Acclaim / Previous Success This is a convention of some, not all magazine adverts and it is a key sales point because a star rating gives a positive outlook on the album; enticing consumers. Having examples of previous success also entices consumers as they can see that the artist has previously been successful in music.
Production Company Logo / Record Label This is more of an advertisement for the company rather than the artist because it is important to recognise their contribution to the album.
Images This connects the artist with the audience as they can see either what they look like or what sort of style they have. Images attract the artist's target audience and may influence sales to the consumer.
