What is momentum p=mv where p is in kgms-1
What is the principle of linear momentum (Assuming no external forces act) linear momentum is always conserved. total linear momentum before a collision= total linear momentum after a collision
What is an elastic collision? Where momentum is conserved and kinetic energy is conserved
What is the equation for kinetic energy? E=1/2mv^2
What is an inelastic collision? Kinetic energy before does not equal kinetic energy after. Linear momentum is still conserved however.
What is Newtons second law of motion? F=ma where F is newtons, m is kg and a=ms-1
What is newtons second law of motion in terms of momentum? F= Δ(mv)/ Δt (the rate of change of momentum in kgms-1=resultant force)
What is impulse? When you rearrange newtons second law it can give: FΔt=Δ(mv) - change in momentum in kgms-1
How do you find impulse from a force time graph? Impulse is the area under a force time graph
Energy transferred= WORK DONE
What is an equation fro work done? W=Fs where w=Joules F-Newtons s-Metres
What do you do when the direction of movement of an object is different from the direction of the force acting on it? Find the component of the force that acts in the direction of the movement: W=FscosX where X =angel When X=90 no work is done
What is power? The rate at which work is done/second P(W)= ΔW(J)/ΔT(s)
What is the watt(hahaha) defined as? The rate of energy transfer = to Js-1
How do you find the work done from a force displacement graph? The area under the graph=work done
Derive an equation of Power using Force and Velocity P=W/t W=Fs P=Fs/y V=s/t P=Fv
P=fv when the force and motion are in different directions P=FvCosX where X=angle
