| The Estates General was a sort of Parliament made up of Representatives of the First, second and third Estate, and as we have learned it had not actually met in over 150 years. | the Third estate had most of the population of France and was composed of peasants. they could outvote the first and second estate because of this. But the 1st and 2nd estate proposed a voting system by estate only. They would always combine to outvote the 3rd estate. |
| The Third estate had, had enough and on the 17 June 1789 the Third Estate voted to form itself into a National Assembly regardless of whether the other Estates joined or not. | The Third Estate was lock out of their meeting place at Versailles on the morning of 20th June. |
