What is cancer? A disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body
How are clinical trials formulated? Two groups one given a placebo while the other receives the new drug
Benign tumor Grows until there is no more room and the cells stay where they are
Placebo A medicine or procedure prescribed for the psychological benefit to the patient rather than for any physiological effect
Malignant tumour The tuner grows and can spread to other sites in the body can be dangerous and fatal
An alliterative method for clinical trials Double blinded - neither patient or scientist knows who received which drug until results have been gathered
Drug development methods 1.Computer models are used - they stimulate human resources 2. Human tissue 3. Test on animals ( UK at least 2)
