Zinc was originally included in amalgam alloys, but is now not usually included. why? a) It increases the risk of expansion if contaminated by water b) It increases the risk of tarnish c) it increases the risk of creep d) It increases the risk of corrosion a) Zinc can react with water (usually from saliva contamination) to form hydrogen with forms within the amalgam and causes delayed expansion which can fracture the tooth!
