Pregunta Respuesta
How Do You Identify Atom/Ion Charges? when an atom has 1 electron in it's outer shell that means it's positively charged because it can give that electron away and so forth. also it can be +4 or -4
What Are The Different Units And How Are They Measured? Voltage (V) - voltmeter Current (A) - ammeter Resistance (Ω - ohms) - o-meter
How Do You Apply OHM's Law? V = Voltage (V) I = Current (A) R = Resistance (Ω)
Where Do You Put A Voltmeter Into A Circuit? always put voltmeter in parallel. it measures the difference between two points in a circuit so it must be in parallel
Where Do You Put An Ammeter Into A Circuit? always put ammeter in series. it measures the flow of electrons therefore the electrons must flow through it so it must be in series
How Does Resistance Of A Wire Work? the resistance of a wire is how easy it is for current to flow through it. the thicker the wire - less resistance. material - the more conductive the better (copper - low , iron - high) and the length (longer - more, shorter - less)
What Does A Transformer Do? transformers can change the voltage (higher or lower) and is safer at a lower voltage
What Is A Parallel Circuit? it's when more than one path goes back to the battery. multiple switches, add more globes without it dimming.
What Is A Series Circuit? only one switch. it’s a cheaper circuit because less wire. the current flows through one path and if you add globes they share the voltage
Which Circuit Is Better? Parallel or Series and Why? parallel is better than series in many situations because there is more than one path that the current can flow
What Are Some Different Conductors and Insulators? conducters - most types of metal insulators - rubber, corks, plastic
What Are The Symbols In A Circuit?
What Is A Wet Cell? they've liquid and are often larger and heavier. the liquid is electrolyte and has two or more metals. it's normally copper and zinc or copper and lead - because one is more reactive than the other. one wants to collect electrons and the other wants to lose them making electrons flow across
What Is A Dry Cell? dry cells are smaller and lighter and generally won’t spill the corrosive paste inside (e.g. remote battery)
What Happens When You Add A Battery To A Circuit? you add it voltage so if you had one 2V battery, you only have 2V but if you add three 2V batteries you have 6V
What Are Some Facts About A Fuse? it has high resistance, low conductivity and a low melting point. when resisting the flow of electrons, the electrons slow and get hot. it protects components in a circuit if something short circuits. when it breaks the current stops flowing.
What Is A Circuit Breaker? it is a bit of curved metal. expands when it heats up and blocks the circuit, contracts when it cools down and the circuit reconnects. a circuit breaker doesn’t have to be replaced
