Command Economy An economy in which production, investment, prices and incomes determined centrally by government.
Five-Year Plan A plan for national economic or industrial development specifying goals to be reached within a period of five years.
heavy Industry The manufacture of large, heavy articles and materials in bulk. (steel, iron, coal etc.)
Consumer Goods Goods brought and used by consumers, rather than manufacturers for producing other goods.
Internal Passport Anyone who lived in a town was registered with the police and could not move to a new town without police permission.
Shock Brigades Groups of young workers who aimed to set a good example by competing with each other to increase their output.

Collectivisation The organisation of a nation or economy on the basis of collectivism (the practice of giving a group priority over each individual in it)
New Economic Policy (NEP) NEP stopped the government from seizing food from the peasants. Peasants were allowed to sell surplus food to private traders control was relaxed private businessmen were allowed to make profits for themselves.
