Pregunta Respuesta
Define 'Risk'. The probability of occurrence of some unwanted event or outcome.
How would you write risk? The risk of ______ is _ out of _ a probability of __% in (state a time-frame!) e.g. The risk of getting head lice in a year 5 class is 1 in 5 a probability of 20% in a year.
What can the perception of risk be? An overestimate or an Underestimate
Why would we overestimate a risk? - Involuntary (not in their control) - Un-natural - Unfamiliar - Dreaded - Unfair - Rare - Sudden
Why would we underestimate a risk? - Voluntary - Natural - Familiar - Looking forward to - Common - Long term
What are the categories of risk factors? Age Heredity Physical environment Social environment Lifestyle Behaviour choices
What is the difference between correlation and causation? A correlation just means that as one thing happens, something else happens too. But causation means that one thing has a direct effect on another thing.
What is Spearman's Rank coefficient? D = difference in rank (order placement) N = Number of individuals in the sample
How do you calculate Spearman's rank? 1. Rank each set of data from the lowest value to the highest. 2. Calculate the difference in rank. 3. Square the difference. 4. Work out the sum of the squared differences. 5. Put values into the formula and use the critical value to determine whether there is a correlation. (r must be bigger than the critical value)
