kamikaze: Beatrice Garland what is is kamikaze about? what are the feelings/themes in the poem? Overview of kamikaze: A Japanese fighter pilot fails to incomplete his mission to help in WW2 .The fighter changes his mind and returns home to his family however,his family are unable to forgive him as it was saw as a great honour to die in war. Themes/feelings: regret, shame, patriotism Links to power and conflict: The mental conflict within the pilots mind which was caused by the war/conflict caused by memory/power of nature that persuades him too return Compare with: Poppies (conflict caused by memories) The prelude (power of nature) Language devices: similes/metaphors/sibilance/direct speech

Overview of cotlb: The poem is about a battle in the Crimean war (1853-1856) a misunderstanding meant the light brigade were ordered into a valley surrounded by the enemy which resulted in mass death.
