    1. There are hints about how the novel will end throughout the text.
      1. One of the themes in Of Mice and Men is that of inevitability.
      2. CANDY'S DOG
        1. There are a number of clues in Chapter 3 that suggest Candy's dog is going to die.
        2. CURLEY'S WIFE
          1. In chapter 3 the death of Curley's wife is being foreshadowed.
          2. STRUCTURE
            1. The last section of the novel echoes the first. The setting is identical and many phrases, incidents and images are repeated.
