  1. Social Anxiety Disorder
    1. DSM-5 CRITERIA
    2. Generalised Anxiety Disorder
      1. DSM-5 criteria
        1. excessive or ongoing anxiety or worry, for at least 6 months about numerous events or activities.
          1. difficulty controlling the worry
            1. At least 3 of the following: restlessness, being easily fatigued, difficulty concentrating or mind going blank, muscle tension and sleep distrubance.
              1. significant distress or impairment
                1. Not attributable to physiological effects or substances
                  1. not better explained by any other mental disorder
      2. Panic Disorder
        1. DSM-5 CRITERIA
          1. not attributable to physiological effects/substances
            1. A month or more of one of the following after at least one of the attacks (a) persistent concern about additional attacks. (b) significant maladaptive behaviour related to the attacks
              1. Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks: these attacks reach a peak within minute and have 4 of the following symptoms: Palpitations, Sweating, feeling dizzy and unsteady, fear of dying, feelings of choking, Derealizations ( feelings of uncertainty).
                1. not better explained b any other mental disorder
              2. Obsessive Compulsive disorder
                1. DSM -5 CRITERIA
                  1. Presence of obsessions, compulsions or both
                    1. Obsessions or compulsions are time consuming - more than one hour a day and they cause distress.
                      1. Not attributable to physiological effects
                        1. Not better explained by the symptoms of another mental disorder
                2. Post Traumatic Stress disorder
                  1. DEFINITION
                    1. Disorder that occurs following an extremely traumatic event in which a person experiences the events, avoids reminders of the trauma and exhibits persistent increased arousal
                    2. symptoms - u dont need to know the diagnostic criteria
                      1. INTRUSION: nightmares, intrusive images, physiological reactions to things that remind them of the trauma
                        1. AROUSAL AND REACTIVITY : hypervigilance, responding excessively when startked, reckless behaviour
                          1. NEGATIVE ALTERATIONS IN COGNITION:: detachment and shame and anger, distorted blame on oneself and others
                            1. AVOIDANCE: efforts made to aoid thoughts, feelings or things that remid them of the trauma
                          2. Disorders
                            1. Phobic disorders
                              1. DSM -5 CRITERIA
                                1. Marked fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation.
                                  1. Phobic object or situation is actively avoided
                                    1. Phobic object or situation almost always provokes fear or anxiety
                                      1. Fear or anxiety is out of proportion to the actual anger
                                        1. Fear/ anxiety is persistent ( for 6 months)
                                          1. SIignificant distress
                                            1. Not better explained by symptoms of another mental disorder
                                2. ICD-10 definition
                                  1. Group of disorders in which anxiety is evoked only or predominantly, in certain well defined situations that are not currently dangerous
                                3. Social Phobia
                                  1. DSM-5 CRITERIA
                                    1. significant distress
                                      1. fear/anxiety/avoidance is persistent ( 6 months)
                                        1. Fear/anxiety is disproportionate to the actual threat posed by the social situation
                                          1. social situations almost always provoke fear or anxiety
                                            1. social situation is actively avoided
                                              1. individuals fear that she or he will act in a way or show symptoms that will be negatively evaluated
                                                1. Marked fear or anxiety about one or more social situations in which the individual is exposed to possible scrutiny by others
                                      2. not attributable to to physiological effects of substances
                                        1. not better explained by symptoms of any other mental disorder
                                          1. If another medical condition (obesity etc) is present, fear and anxiety is present, fear/anxiety is clearly unrelated
