    4. Wasn't accepted at first. Why?
      1. Erosion Theory was just accepted
      2. Wasn't detectable
      3. Couldn't be recreated in a lab
      4. Wegner was a meteorologist not a geologist
      5. BUT THEN ...
        In the 1950s, scientists investigated the Mid-Atlantic ridge
        The found that magma rose up through the sea floor. This magma cools and create underwater mountains
        The evidence suggested that the sea floor was spreading and the continents were moving apart
