Resumen del Recurso

Science (C1, B1, P1)
  1. REFRACTION
    1. Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where the speed is different.
    2. INSULIN
      1. A hormone, produced by the pancreas, which controls the blood glucose concentration.
      2. EMULSIFIERS
        1. A chemical that can used to make sure that oil and water remain mixed.
          1. AUXIN
            1. A plant hormone that affects the growth and development.
            2. INTERMOLLECULAR FORCES
              1. Intermolecular forces are forces of attraction or repulsion which act between neighboring particles (atoms, molecules or ions). They are weak compared to the intramolecular forces, the forces which keep a molecule together.
              2. CRACKING
                1. Breaking down (decomposition of) long chain hydrocarbons into smaller, more useful, short chain hydrocarbons
                2. ALKENE
                  1. An unsaturated (i.e at least on C=C) hydrocarbon
                    1. ALKANE
                      1. A saturated (i.e only single bonds) hydrocarbon
                    2. POLYMERISATION
                      1. The chemical reaction where monomers are used to make polymers
                      2. COLLOID
                        1. A colloid is a substance in which microscopically dispersed insoluble particles are suspended throughout another substance.
                        2. EYE
                          1. IRIS
                            1. A thin, circular structure in the eye, responsible for controlling the diameter and size of the pupil and thus the amount of light reaching the retina. The color of the iris gives the eye its color.
                            2. RETINA
                              1. The back of the eye; contains light sensitive cells/receptors
                              2. GLYCOGEN
                                1. Glycogen is a multibranched polysaccharide of glucose that serves as a form of energy storage in animals and fungi. The polysaccharide structure represents the main storage form of glucose in the body.
                                2. HAEMOGLOBIN
                                  1. Every time you come to give blood or platelets we check your haemoglobin level. Haemoglobin, or 'Hb', is a protein found in the red blood cells that carries oxygen around your body and gives blood its red colour.
