  1. What is Civilization?
    1. Is often defined as a complex culture.
      1. Civilization has 5 characteristics:
        1. 1) advanced cities.
          1. 2) specialized workers.
            1. 3) complex institutions.
              1. 4) record keeping,.
                1. 5) advanced technology.
            2. The development of civilization included many important factors as:
              1. 1. Food
                1. 2. Domestication
                  1. 3. Development
                    1. 4. Extra Food
                      1. 5. Towns and Cities
                        1. 6. Socioeconmic System
                          1. The earliest civilizations developed between 4000 and 3000 BCE, when the rise of agriculture and trade allowed people to have surplus food and economic stability.
                            1. People had to accept the change and at the same time start live with them.
                              1. Civilizations first appeared in Mesopotamia (what is now Iraq) and later in Egypt.
                                1. At beginning of civilization there were important changes in society that involved some factors:
                                  1. Economic Situation
                                    1. 1. Trades 2. Agricultural changes, food and created new jobs but farming. 3. products like crafts, and clothing increased. 4. The invention of the wheel.
                                    2. Social life
                                      1. 1.Social classes were created. 2. Religions (beliefs) 3. Appreciating nature, animal spirits, and afterlife ideas.
                                      2. Food, Clothing, tools
                                        1. 1. A city became the center of trade for a large area. 2. Farmers, merchants and traders came to exchange goods. raders came to exchange goods.

                                          1. 1. Traders, government officials, priests. 2. Food suppliers specialized. 3. wellers became artisans (jewelry, fashioning metal tools, and weapons
                                          2. Invention
                                            1. 1.Using animals for transporting goods. 2. Irrigation systems to expand planting areas. 3. Potter’s wheel for creating shape jugs and plates faster. 4. Creating Bronze by melting certain amounts of copper.
