Fitness for Sport and Exercise
    1. Components of Physical Fitness
      1. Aerobic Endurance
        1. Also known as - cardiorespiratory fitness, cardiorespiratory endurance, or aerobic fitness.
          1. Definition: the ability of the cardiorespiratory system to work efficiently, supplying nutrients and oxygen to working muscles during sustained physical activity.
            1. Cardiovascular system (circulatory system – comprising the heart, blood, and blood vessels) and the respiratory system (lungs and airways)
              1. Responsible for the uptake of oxygen from the air we breathe, the transport of nutrients and oxygen around the body and the removal of waste products including carbon dioxide.
              2. Found in- Long distance anything e.g. Swimming, Cycling, Running etc.
              3. Muscular Endurance
                1. Definition – the ability of the muscular system to work efficiently, where a muscle can continue contracting over a period of time against a light to moderate fixed resistance load.
                  1. Used in sports such as Skiing, Rowing, Rugby, Gymnastics etc.
                  2. Flexibility
                    1. Definition – Having an adequate range of motion in all joints of the body; the ability to move a joint fluidly through its complete range of movement.
                      1. Found in - Gymnastics, Dance, Freestyle Snowboarding etc
                      2. Speed
                        1. Definition – How quickly an athlete can cover a distance. The faster an athlete runs over a given distance, the greater their speed
                          1. Distance (Metres) divided by the time taken (Seconds). Speed is measured in metres per second (m/s).
                            1. Found in - Nearly every sport to some degree, especially short distance runs
                              1. 3 types of speed
                                1. accelerative speed (sprints up to 30 metres)
                                  1. pure speed (sprints up to 60 metres)
                                    1. speed endurance (sprints with short recovery period in-between)
                                  2. Muscular Strength
                                    1. Definition – the maximum force (in kg or Newtons) that can be generated by a muscle or muscle group.
                                      1. Found in sports such as Rugby, Weight lifting etc
                                      2. Body Composition
                                        1. Definition – the relative ratio of fat mass to fat-free mass (vital organs, muscle, bone) in the body.
                                      3. Components of skill related fitness
