                                                                                                                            1. Probing: finger/ probe/catheter/forcep: identify the depth of wound, look for any foreign bodies
                                                                                                                            2. Treatment

                                                                                                                                        1. Check for hge, clip and shave area, apply antiseptic (tr. iodine)

                                                                                                                                          1. manual removal of foreign bodies, necrotic tissue
                                                                                                                                            1. Chemical debridement using combination of copper sulfate and magnesium sulfate ( 1:1 ratio) in glycerine, applied to wound and kept for 48 hrs
                                                                                                                                              1. irrigation under pressure
                                                                                                                                                1. better removal of FB and necrotic debris and also causes hyperemia which enhance healing process
                                                                                                                                              2. Drainage
                                                                                                                                                1. Keep an opening in the ventral most part of the wound after properly bandged wound applied with antiseptic (iodine)
                                                                                                                                                  1. Provide seton on the dorsal part for complete drainage
                                                                                                                                                  2. Dressing
                                                                                                                                                    1. Done daily - to promote vascular bed for better healing
                                                                                                                                                      1. Antiseptic dressing is only helpful once the wound becomes fresh after complete
                                                                                                                                                        1. Antiseptic/ antibiotic ointments can be used for dressing
                                                                                                                                                      2. supportive treatment
                                                                                                                                                        1. systemic antibiotics 3-5 days
                                                                                                                                                          1. fly repellent
                                                                                                                                                            1. skin graft if necessary

                                                                                                                                                        1. Wound: is the break of continuity of skin or the subcut tissue or both, which may or may not accompanied by a loss of tissue
