      • Have students brainstorm on a topic.  Have them practice generating ideas.

        Nota:

        • Practice quickly organizing your thoughts and write them down on paper.

          Nota:

          • Form of Quick Write where the emphasis is on different purposes of writing for the same topic. 
        2. Timed Writing

          Nota:

          • Focuses on fluency and the flow of written words.  Its useful because it relates to the work place.
          1. Content Journals

            Nota:

            • Students record their experiences in a journal.  It helps them write better. 
          2. Provide Scaffolds for challenging tasks

                        • Have students plan before they write.  Give them tools to organize their ideas.

                          • Encourage students to just write and get their thoughts down on paper.  Encourage rough drafts

                            • Allow students to use technology as a way to differentiate in the way planning essays goes.  allow students to type, mind map, spellcheck, etc

                              • Give the students some sort of feedback on their writing.  If not they do not learn anything

                                • Focus on corrections such as grammar and spelling during the first draft.
