                2. When to Start Using a CM System
                  1. It varies as to when project teams
                3. Work Authorization System
                  1. Is a method used in conjunction with project management
                    1. Is used by the project manager and his or her designees
                      1. The work authorization system is sometimes referred to as a “WAS
                        1. Will typically be in the form of a list of formally adopted and well- documented procedures
                          1. Work authorization procedures specifically detail
                            1. who may authorize work to be completed and how those authorizations may be obtained.
                              1. Also sometimes detail the timeline of the project
                                1. The project should be completed, in which order those tasks are to be completed, and by whom

                        1. It reduces the possibility that unnecessary changes will be introduced to a system without forethought
                          1. The goals include minimal disruption to services, reduction in backout activities, and cost-effective utilization of resources involved in implementing change
                        2. Typical examples from the computer and network environments are patches to software products, installation of new operating systems, upgrades to network routing tables, or changes to the electrical power systems supporting such infrastructure.
