Parallel Lines are lines in a plane which do not meet. I.E that is, two
straight lines in a plane that do not intersect at any point are said to be
parallel.
Examples of Parallel Lines are as follows:-Railway tracks,Opposite edges of the
textbook, the edges of sidewalks, marking on the streets, zebra crossing on the
roads, the surface of pineapple and strawberry fruit, staircase and railings, etc.
There are certain Properties of Parallel Line. They are as follows:--
Feature 1:- Lines, parallel to a given line in a plane, are parallel to each other. Feature 2:-
The distance between parallel lines does not change, it is same every where. Feature 3:-
Two lines in the same plane perpendicular to a given line are parallel to each other.
Feature 4:- A line segment can be divided internally in a given ratio by constructing
parallel lines.
There are certain parts of Parallel Lines. They are as follows:--
Alternate angles are the pair of angles, which are formed when
the coplanar lines are cut by a transversal. 2. There are two
different types of alternate angles- alternate interior angles
and alternate exterior angles.
Corresponding angles are angles that are formed on the same side of the
transversal when two parallel lines are intersected by the transversal. 2. If
corresponding angles are equal then the two lines are parallel to each other.
1. Co-interior angles are the pair of non-adjacent interior angles that lie on the same side
of the transversal. 2. On parallel lines, co-interior angles add up to 180 degree.
