Natural disasters
  1. phenomenon that has an strong impact over the economic and social wellbeing of a community or a country, because of the destructive power that they have, which causes the loss of a great numbers of lifes and properties
    1. The recovery of properties damaged
      1. one can picture a natural disaster as a time line consisting on three different periods. Period 1: losses of buildings, highways and other infrastructure (direct losses) in period 2, indirect losses such as lost output and reductions in employment, leisure time and taxable receipts occur. Finally in period 3 a recovery ensues: rebuilding and cleanup efforts generate temporary increases in retail sales such as construction materials and nonperishable items like batteries, charcoal and canned foodstufs. Damaged goods like clothing, furniture and other household items are replaced and roads, bridges or other structures are rebuilt.
        1. Prediction of a natural disaster
          1. as natural disasters have been increasing, scientist have took really innovating ideas for predicting those kind of events, the problem is that humans have not take awarness of the increasing number of tsunamis, earthquakes, to name a few of this phenomenons. An idea that scientist are studying is the use of birds for predicting the weather condition that change drasticcly when a tornado is coming by for example, there are some machines
            1. How do gobernments recover after a natural disaster
              1. in the U.S.A for example the local governments emergency services install a central field office where all the affected members of a community can receive any kinds of help, like shelter, food or medical services.This process has different steps depemnding on the importance on the reach of the natural disaster. STEPS: - Reponse of the local government and neighboring communities. - response of the stade with entities like the national guard. - the inclution of federal agencies which determinate the losses and the recovery needs. - major disaster declaration form the governor . - The FEMA recommends action to be taken to the white house. - the president aproves the request.
