  1. GDPR
    1. Data must be used in a fair way
      1. Data must be only used for the role it's intended to have
        1. Data must be relevant - cannot gather more than what is needed
          1. Data must be up to date
            1. Data must not be kept for longer than it is needed for
              1. Data must be kept safely and secure
                1. Data must not be transferred without protection
                2. Computer misuse act (1990)
                  1. Cannot gain unauthorised access to a network
                    1. Cannot modify data on a network without permission
                      1. Cannot create and / or supply malware
                      2. Copyright and design patents act (1988)
                        1. Illegal to copy and / or share other people's work
                          1. Must have permission to distribute work
                            1. Doesn't just goven digital data work
                              1. It also covers written work and people's ideas
                                1. Illegal sites will be prosecuted and shut down
                                2. Creative Commons Licencing
                                  1. Attribution - Work can be copied, modified and shared but must tell the owner
                                    1. SHare-alike - if work is modied, it can only be shared with the same licence that the original piece of work had
                                      1. Non-Commercial- cannot re-use the work for own profit
                                        1. No Derivative Works - Can copy and share but cannot modify
                                        2. Freedom of Infomation Act (2000)
                                          1. Allows the public to access 'public' infomation
                                            1. Government assets must publish data to the public
                                              1. Allows the public to see transparency in companies
                                                1. Infomation which may cause harm to national security can be held back
