                                    1. Started as a interest group to pressure governments for equality
                                      1. Supports sexual assault shelters
                                        1. As well as shelters for battered women
                                  3. Child Rights
                                    1. Children around the world are exploited, abused, and discriminated against.
                                      1. Canada played a key role in the negotiations that led to the adoption in 1989 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
                                        1. Have many basic human rights as well, along with right to life, right to freedom, right to not work etc.
                                          1. Canada’s governments, schools and other institutions have progressively changed a number of laws, policies and practices to uphold children’s rights
