  1. are composed of
    1. opposite of positive numbers
      1. Eg. -1 , -2 , -3 , -4 , ...
        1. value less than 0
        2. zero
          1. neither negative nor positive
            1. considered neutral
            2. counting numbers
              1. any regular number
                1. Eg. +1 , +2 , +3 , +4 , ...
                  1. value greater than 0
                2. can be represented using a number line
                  1. Adding integers
                    1. Same signs
                      1. Add the numbers and keep the sign
                        1. (+) + (+) = (+)
                          1. Example : 5 + 3 = 8
                          2. (-) + (-) = (-)
                            1. Example : (-5) + (-3) = (-8)
                        2. Different signs
                          1. Subtract the two numbers and keep the sign of the bigger number
                            1. Example : (-8) + 2 = -6
                              1. Example : 8 + (-2) = 6
                          2. Subtracting integers
                            1. To subtract integers, LCO the problem
                              1. Leave the first number
                                1. Change the last number to its Opposite
                                  1. Change the sign
                                    1. Use the addition rules to solve
                                      1. (-7) - (-4)

                                          1. (-7) + (+4)
                                            1. = -3
                                        2. 7 - (+4)

                                            1. 7 + (-4)
                                              1. = 3
                                      2. Multiplying Integers
                                        1. If the signs are the same, you multiply and the product is positive
                                          1. (+) x (+) = (+)
                                            1. ( - ) x ( - ) = ( + )
                                              1. Example : ( -4 ) x ( -2 ) = +8
                                              2. If the signs are different, multiply and the product is negative
                                                1. ( + ) x ( - ) = ( - )
                                                  1. ( - ) x ( + ) = ( - )
                                                    1. Example : ( - 4 ) x ( 2 ) = ( - 8 )
                                                  2. Dividing Integers
                                                    1. If the signs are the same, you divide and the quotient is positive
                                                      1. ( + ) / ( + ) = ( + )
                                                        1. ( - ) / ( - ) = ( + )
                                                          1. Example : ( - 8) / ( - 2 ) = ( + 4 )
                                                          2. If the signs are different, you divide and the quotient is negative
                                                            1. ( + ) / ( - ) = ( - )
                                                              1. ( - ) / ( + ) = ( - )
                                                                1. Example : ( - 8 ) / ( + 2 ) = ( - 4 )
