DEATH TOLL
15,000 Soviets killed 30,000 injured. Lots of casualties, the morale of the army is affected by this. What are we doing this for?
9 YEARS OF WAR
USSR were involved with Afghanistan for 9 years attempting to help the communist government against Islamic fundamentalists. It's been a long time.
AGREEMENT
UN sponsored peace talks. USSR, Pakistan, Afghanistan & USA reached an agreement. In 1988 troops were removed from Afghanistan.
OPPOSITION
The USA led an international condemnation of the invasion
ACHIEVEMENT
In 1992 a hard-line Islamic fundamentalist government took over. The Taliban. So, did USR actually achieve anything by their invasion?
