Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury
Systolic Pressure
The higher measurement when the heart beats, pushing blood through the arteries

The lower measurement when the heart rests between beats

Carbon monoxide means the blood carries less oxygen, heart rate increases to get enough blood to the tissues
Nicotine in the cigarette directly effects the heart rate, it makes you more alert
1. Fatty deposits build up in the conary arteries, a blood clot can form
2. A blood clot can form on the fatty deposit
3. Some heart muscle cells don't get the oxygen and nutrients they need
4. The cells die - you get a heart attack
