What is it?
1. happens when a person takes a substance or takes part in an activity that is pleasurable to them
  1. they keep on taking the substance or taking part in that activity and are not able to stop

1. Is addiction due to chemicals?
  1. Addiction may not be caused just by chemicals
2. Or is it because of the environment people are surrounded with?
  1. Most addictions happen because of loneliness or depression
How should society deal with addicts
1. Try to make them feel more part of society rather than isolating them

  1. ex. shopping in reaction to being stressed
  2. can switch addictive actions from one drug to another, or to a non drug behaviour
