  1. In 1926 the Party Congress resolved 'to transform our county from an agrarian into an industiral one, capable by its own efforts of producing the necessary means'
    1. This lead to Stalin deciding to revolution agriculture and industry
      1. His plan had one essential aim: to modernise the Soviet economy, and had two methods: collectivisation and industrialisiation.
        1. From 1928 onwards these methods were introduced and the state took over the running of the nation's economy
          1. These economic changes were so dramatic they have been referred to as the 'second revolution' or a 'revolution from above'
