Resumen del Recurso

Energy
  1. Pyramids of Biomass
    1. Trophic Levels
      1. A feeding level
        1. Less energy and biomass at each level
          1. Fewer organisms each time you move up
          2. Mass of living material at each stage of the food chain
            1. (bottom to top)Producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, tertiary consumer
            2. Energy in Food Chains
              1. Energy comes from the sun
                1. Plants use the suns energy for photosynthesis
                  1. Respiration provides energy. It is lost by heat and waste
                    1. Some animals/plants have inedible plants, so energy is not passed on
                2. Energy Loss Causes
                  1. Movement
                    1. Heat loss from respiration
                      1. Heating Bogy
                        1. Faeces and Urine
                          1. Growth and Repair
                        2. The Carbon Cycle
                          1. Photsynthesis removes CO2 from the air
                            1. Plants and animals respire
                              1. Plants and animals die, detritus fedders eat them, they respire
                                1. Waste and dead organisms taken up in soil
                                  1. CO2 is back in the air
                                  2. Fossil fuels are burnt
                                2. Decay Processes
                                  1. Plants take elements (carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen), from soil or air
                                    1. Elements turned into complex compounds, passed through food chain
                                      1. They return to the environment in waste products, they decay because they're broken down by migroorganisms
                                        1. Microorganisms work best in warm, moist conditions and with plenty of oxygen
                                          1. Elements are recycled in compost bins
                                            1. Put into the food chain again
