    1. The so called differences between men and women are not biological but the result of gender role socialisation
      1. The different ways boys and girls are treated
      2. To liberate women it is necessary to show that men and women are equal in potential
        1. Their concern is fighting for equal rights
        2. Radical Feminist
          1. Hold the most extreme view and believe that men are the enemy
            1. Men dominate and opress women in society in a niumber of ways
              1. Believe women are exploited for the benefit of men
                1. In order to be freed women need to separate themselves completely from male domination and control
                2. Marxist Feminist
                  1. Capitalism and Patriarchy
                    1. Women are exploited through capitalism
                      1. As they are paid less than men for their labour
                      2. They are also exploited in the home
                        1. They carry out unpaid housework and childcare
                      3. Black Feminism
                        1. White feminists have ignored ethnic minority women
                          1. These women face a double disadvantage
                            1. Racism and Patriarchy
                          2. Concerned with issuses which affect women from ethnic backgrounds
                            1. Eg- forced marriage
                          3. Post Feminist
                            1. Suggest there are now a range of identities from which women and men can choose from
                              1. Acknowledges that experience of women varies according to their class, ethnicity and age
